Over the past number of years I've devoted increasing amounts of time to experimenting with various technological applications in my teaching practice. Increasingly, I've found myself asking the question, how does "x" support or enhance student learning? This simple, yet essential question, drives my assessment of any technology's place in education. As teachers, I think that as we "play" with various technologies we need to always ensure that student learning remains the clear focus. This means, if we can't see or determine that a technology benefits student learning and achievement, either directly or indirectly, then we need to be ready to set it aside. Conversely, this also means demonstrating a willingness to incorporate into our teaching practice technologies that have clearly proven themselves to be beneficial to our students.
